About us

Bee Positive is an environmental initiative showing people simple steps to help save the bees and support their local biodiversity.

Taking inspiration from bees, Bee Positive shows you how small individual actions can add up to big change in the environment but also in ourselves as we connect with the mental and physical health benefits of nature.

Our story

Bee Positive was founded in 2020 after a personal experience of trauma and grief, something many in the world are currently dealing with. In the dark and difficult days when we were attempting to come to terms with our loss we found great solace and comfort in nature. In particular in planting seeds for bees and filling our life with their gentle, busy, humming presence.

In her book, The Well Gardened Mind: Rediscovering Nature in the Modern World, psychiatrist Sue Stuart-Smith illustrates the remarkable effects nature can have on our psyche and well-being using case studies of people struggling with stress, depression, trauma and addiction. Her conclusions chime with research from around the world that is proving what many of us have discovered, or re-discovered in the pandemic;  that nature brings us peace when we are in distress, helps us to re-balance and recover our physical and mental well-being, and can inspire us with the wonder and beauty of life, even in our darkest moments.

As we continue to research and explore the positive effects of connecting with nature we invite you to join us, take part in your own conservation journey and discover for yourself the benefits the natural world has to offer.
